The Scorpion Maxiprep Spin Kit is designed to produce up to 500 µg of highly purified plasmid DNA which is suitable for virtually any molecular biology application, including mammalian cell transfections. This system employs a unique spin filter cartridge in combination with a membrane-based chromatographic spin cartridge and can be used in any centrifuge which can accommodate 50 ml conical centrifuge tubes. The Scorpion Maxiprep System is a cost-effective alternative to cesium chloride gradients and expensive anion-exchange columns. The figure to the right shows pUC-19 plasmid DNA purified from DH10B cells, and ran on a 1% agarose gel. Lane A shows pUC-19 purified using a common commercially available anion-exchange plasmid purification kit. Lane B shows pUC-19, purified from the same culture, but using the Scorpion Plasmid Miniprep Kit.
