Industry Is Anticipating INTERPHEX 2012, Gearing Up For Exhibits And New Programming

New exhibitors signed on, 90+ product and service launches planned, registration strong

The pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries have marked their calendars for INTERPHEX 2012, as the countdown continues for its run at New York’s Javits Center on May 1-3, 2012.

Organizers report that “registration is tracking strong” for the annual event, which will feature a completely re-engineered education program, organized by track, and more than 650 suppliers representing more than 1,000 product lines , including more than 130 new exhibitors in the show floor’s four exhibit Zones: Facilities, Sourcing & Services, Automation: Systems & Controls, and Manufacturing & Packaging. The event is the industry’s largest and promises to exceed last year’s event, which brought together more than 11,200 professionals from 48 states and 47 countries.

The optimism that was seen at last year's show is being reflected in current market activity. According to recent project report data provided by Industrial Information Resources to INTERPHEX, significant investments are being made to new and existing sites across North America.

“There is a lot of market activity; to date, more than 90 new product and services launches are scheduled to be on display for this year’s show,” said Bob Stewart, Industry Vice President, INTERPHEX Events. “This underscores how the industry keeps evolving across all manufacturing sectors – including branded, generic, and contract providers – and the role INTERPHEX plays as the largest annual forum where supplier solutions and proven case studies can be shared.”

INTERPHEX 2012 is also supported by a number of industry organizations and publications, including Corporate Partners Baxter, DSM, EMD Millipore and FedEx, Corporate Supporter Iron Mountain, and Industry Partners BioPharm International, BioProcess International, Contract Pharma, Pharmaceutical Online, Pharmaceutical Processing, Pharmaceutical Technology and The Gold Sheet.

“INTERPHEX is an ideal venue to showcase our biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies to industry experts and customers alike,” said Janice Paquette, Director of Global Communication, Process Solutions, EMD Millipore. “This event continues to serve as a premier launch platform for innovative products, like our Mobius FlexReady single-use systems, designed to meet the needs of an ever-evolving industry.”

“INTERPHEX attracts strong attendance by high-level professionals from the Life Science community,” said Carrie Howell, Global Marketing at FedEx Healthcare Solutions. “We’re looking forward to being part of this year’s event, because it serves those who benefit from our portfolio of services, which includes a wide range of temperature-controlled solutions for both package and freight shipments.”

“As a global leader in steriles and oral solid dosage, cytotoxics, and clinical trial material manufacturing for pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies, we find significant value in attending INTERPHEX,” said Min Park, Director of Marketing for DSM Pharmaceuticals, Inc. “This opportunity to interact with industry thought leaders, prospective customers, and existing clients ensures we maintain our unique position at the cutting-edge of innovation, and allows us to reach a large, receptive audience with a strong rationale for choosing DSM.”

In addition, this year’s INTERPHEX marks the 15th year of its partnership with the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), a not-for-profit Society of 22,000 pharmaceutical professionals in 90 countries.

“As the independent pharmaceutical manufacturing association, ISPE is dedicated to strengthening industry through relevant technical education, training and networking,” said ISPE President and CEO Nancy Berg. “Our sponsorship of the FOYA program, along with our continued partnership with INTERPHEX, is an important part of our strategy to foster dialog within the pharmaceutical industry and shine the spotlight on the industry’s efforts to find innovative, cost-effective ways to ensure the availability of a safe drug supply for patients world-wide.”

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico will also be represented by members of its leading industry groups, including INTERPHEX Puerto Rico; the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO); the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau and Puerto Rico Convention Center; and INDUNIV, a non-profit consortium supporting Puerto Rico’s science and technology environment through industry, government and academic sector collaboration.

“This is a global industry, with great demand put on everyone involved in pharmaceutical manufacturing,” said R.J. Palermo, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. “Those who support this manufacturing help drive scientific manufacturing processes, equipment, machines, and other product and services that deliver the products which influence so many lives in a positive way, and this is the valuable knowledge they share at INTERPHEX.”
