Scalability From 5L To 50L Using The DynaDrive Single-Use Bioreactor

Process development requires confidence that a bioprocess can be scaled up or down and still deliver consistent performance. A study was conducted to demonstrate the scalability of a Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell culture from a 5 L single-use bioreactor to a 50 L single-use bioreactor. The study maintained similar process parameters, and key metrics like viable cell density and cell viability showed comparable trends throughout the 14-day cultures. Mean protein titers were also nearly identical between the two scales, indicating consistent productivity.
The results suggest a straightforward approach to scaling a fed-batch bioprocess, helping to reduce barriers to process transfer and offering confidence in bioprocess scalability. For a full overview of the methods and results, download the application note.
