Real-Time Monitoring Of Key Bioprocess Parameters Using MAVERICK

Bioprocessing 4.0 is being used to digitally transform biopharmaceutical production with cloud-connected bioreactors and data science tools. Culture Biosciences' bioreactors autonomously capture real-time data, which can be monitored or analyzed using Culture's Console. 908 Devices collaborated with Culture Biosciences to test their Raman spectroscopy-powered in-line PAT device, MAVERICK, in order to enable real-time, in-line bioprocess analysis and control. An experiment using Chinese Hamster Ovary cells demonstrated that the MAVERICK system could accurately reflect live culture conditions and track the effect of feed and media addition events on process parameters in real-time, a level of detail not captured in off-line daily sample measurements. The company's bioreactors also use cloud-connected sensors and controllers to accurately monitor volume changes, glucose concentration, and lactate levels in real-time throughout experiments. The success of the experiment shows how the integration of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) probes into bioreactors enhances process understanding and enables precise bioprocess monitoring and control.
