Cell and gene therapies are gaining traction as alternative treatments for various diseases. As a result, nutrient and metabolite analysis is becoming increasingly important in regenerative medicine to better understand the impact of different media additives on cell culture media. Capillary electrophoresis coupled with mass spectrometry (CE-MS) is a promising analytical tool for metabolomics investigations into cell culture media. REBEL, an at-line CE-MS device, allows rapid quantification of amino acids and vitamins, facilitating efficient analysis of media components.

CAR T-cell therapies have shown promise in treating hematologic malignancies, leading to research on their application in solid tumor cancers. Strategies to improve T-cell metabolic fitness and overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment are being developed. Metabolomics strategies are also being explored to enhance the survival and therapeutic potential of human mesenchymal stem cell transplantation. Overall, the articles highlight the importance of metabolic analysis in cell therapy, particularly in understanding and optimizing cell culture media formulations and enhancing the effectiveness of CAR T-cell therapy and stem cell transplantation.
