What is a microservice? For our purposes, we take the view that it's a stand-alone piece of business functionality that does one thing and does it well. Looking at malware scanning as an example, using a microservice in place of embedding codes in applications prevents duplicates from forming as more applications are created. This in turn reduces the amount of maintenance and validation costs a company could incur.
