How Perfusion In Seed Train Bioreactors Can Simplify Upstream Processes
N-1 perfusion can intensify seed trains by producing high-density, high-viability inoculum while reducing intermediate steps and production bioreactor occupancy. Scaling the process while maintaining culture performance and protecting subsequent fed-batch results remains a key challenge. A scalable approach demonstrated from bench through production scale achieved approximately 95% viability and cell densities exceeding 170 × 10⁶ cells/mL after nine days of culture. Fed-batch runs seeded from these perfusion cultures also performed consistently with those using non-intensified seed trains.
See how N-1 perfusion can streamline seed train operations without compromising downstream performance.
