Evaluation Of Mixing Performance Of The 200 L HyPerforma Mixtainer System

Reliable mixing across changing batch volumes can simplify process development and support more flexible bioprocessing operations. Testing of the 200 L Thermo Scientific HyPerforma Mixtainer System examined liquid–liquid and liquid–solid mixing across working volumes from 20:1 to full capacity, and agitation speeds up to 300 rpm. Conductivity and osmolality measurements showed liquid–liquid T95 mixing times below 2.5 minutes under every condition evaluated, with faster mixing generally achieved at higher agitation rates. For sinking solids, T95 was reached within 14 minutes, while lower working volumes mixed more quickly than full volume. These findings provide practical data for teams evaluating mixing strategies for upstream and downstream workflows.
