Beyond Speed And Titer: Building Cell Lines For Long-Term Development Success

A cell line can reach the research or master cell bank quickly and still carry weaknesses that stay hidden until downstream process development or GMP manufacturing, when they cost more time and money to fix. Four questions give a better test of clone readiness: scale, product identity, durability, and documentation. A strong titer can also mask incorrectly assembled or functionally compromised material in bispecifics, T-cell engagers, and Fc-fusion proteins, and early clone choices can limit what process development is able to correct later. Work through the framework to see how each question changes the way clones get judged.
