04.25.26 -- Balancing Legacy Systems With The Adoption Of New Technologies

CHANGE ISN’T EASY, BUT IT’S NECESSARY

Greetings! I once had a teacher whose mantra was to “Make a friend of change,” which I think applies as much to life as it does to the ever-evolving world of biopharma manufacturing. In this week’s editorial focus, we’re exploring this idea of change as it relates to adopting new technologies.

In this recent conversation with Syed Abbas Yar-Khan, a group vice president at Eli Lilly, he explains Lilly’s approach to standardized facility design that leaves room for new technology adoption. “Standardization and innovation are not mutually exclusive, but you have to be deliberate about where you allow each to operate,” he says. “Our standard design is a floor, not a ceiling.”

This balancing act between standardization and innovation will be the focus of next week’s virtual Bioprocess Online Live event on closing the adoption gap for advanced single-use materials and technologies. You can register here to attend that event for free or be notified once it’s available to watch on demand.
