Learn how PCR-based Mycoplasma detection assays can provide a rapid alternative to culturing with comparable sensitivity, specificity, and species range that can facilitate quick decision-making. The assay used in this experiment specifically targets the 16S rDNA sequence conserved across a vast range of Mycoplasma strains including three priority groups in the presence of multiple matrices.
The Applied Biosystems™ MycoSEQ™ Plus Mycoplasma Detection Assay, a TaqMan-based PCR multiplex Mycoplasma detection assay that can detect over 200 species of Mycoplasma targets, avoid false positives, and monitor PCR inhibition in a single reaction. Additionally, the assay includes a multi-purpose Discriminatory Positive Control designed to evaluate DNA extraction efficiency during sample preparation, and discriminate between a true positive-sample and an accidental cross-contamination with the Positive Control. The assay is designed for use with the Applied Biosystems™ PrepSEQ™ 1-2-3 Mycoplasma Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit, and with the Applied Biosystems™ PrepSEQ™ Express Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit, in both an automated and a manual workflow and is supported by validated templates in AccuSEQ™ software.
