Single-pass tangential flow filtration (SPTFF) has become a popular method of choice in bioprocessing for purposes of volume reduction, process intensification and continuous manufacturing. Due to its effectiveness and small footprint requirement, it can be situated between many downstream unit operations including post-harvest clarification, pre- and post- chromatography and final ultrafiltration. As the industry is looking to increase speed to market, reduce manufacturing resources and increase product safety, there has been a push to implement single-use technologies.
