Xenometrix offers proprietary gene response profiling technology and genotoxicity technology that can aid the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology industries in accelerating the selection of promising drug and chemical leads. Academic institutions engaged in basic research can also benefit from the kits and services available from Xenometrix. We offer unique cell-based assays with multiple gene response indicators that give specific information on the biological activity of a specific test article. We also offer Salmonella-based genotoxicity assays for determination of the mutagenic potential of drug or chemical compounds.

Our Gene Profile Assays are ELISA based, and use liver or colon cells stably transfected with various reporter constructs designed to detect upregulation of genes involved in DNA and protein perturbations, oxidative stress, and activation of protective metabolic pathways. Applications of these assays include drug lead optimization and investigation of mechanisms underlying toxic effects of known harmful substances.

Genotoxicity assays assess the mutagenic potential of chemicals. These assays are based on the internationally validated Salmonella mutagenicity assay (Ames assay). Our Ames II assays are comparable in sensitivity to the Ames assay, with the added ability to determine specific base substitutions. In addition, the Ames II assays are highly amenable for high throughput operations.

Xenometrix offers assay kits for customers to perform in their own laboratories, and is able to provide services through our Client Research Laboratory. Both kits and services can be customized to a client's particular needs to provide the greatest amount of useful information at a reasonable cost.
