World Premier Of Compact Automated Cell Culture System
The Automation Partnership is launching its new CompacT SelecT automated laboratory cell culture system on Stand 720 at Drug Discovery Technology. This specialised system is designed for the reproducible generation of assay-ready plates every day and when used continuously could increase productivity by over 20 per cent.
CompacT SelecT, which has a footprint slightly larger than a standard Class II safety cabinet, is based on TAP's SelecT, the leading automated cell culture system. Over 30 SelecT systems are installed in all the major pharma companies, where they have been used to successfully culture more than 550 different cell lines. CompacT SelecT automates manual cell culture processes via a small 6-axis anthropomorphic robotic arm that automatically manipulates standard T-175 flasks under negative pressure laminar airflow, thereby preventing any contamination. The system also operates with full bar code tracking to ensure a complete audit trail.
CompacT SelecT also contains 10 separate pumps so users can save time by dispensing a range of media and simultaneously culturing multiple different cell lines. The cells produced can either be harvested or automatically plated into 96 and 384-well plates ready for use in cellular assays. Additionally, CompacT SelecT is capable of continually unattended operation over weekends and vacations providing a greater than 20 per cent increase in productivity.
Hilary Latham, Senior Product Manager at TAP commented: "There is a growing demand for a well-engineered, medium throughput cell culture system and we are delighted to respond to the need with our CompacT SelecT system. This next generation automated cell culture system harnesses the power of our internationally proven SelecT, in a smaller, more affordable format, making this excellent technology much more accessible to any pharma or biotech company."
