UV Flash
Standard integration solutions are available for Imaging and Photometry.
An opto coupled external trigger prevents especially electrophysiological experiments from electronic smog.
The flash light is coupled into the microscope via a quartz light guide. It fits into an epifluorescence condenser which is special designed for the optical and mechanical specifications of the light guide fibre and the microscope which is used.
If it is combined with one of our Polychrome based advanced systems we supply special two port epifluorescence condensers to combine both light source in the specimen plane.
Light source
- pulsed Xenon arc lamp
- efficient all reflective collector optics that focuses the light into a quartz fibre (diameter 1.25 mm, NA 0.25)
- epifluorescence condensers providing an optimal transfer of UV energy into the specimen plane
- optional two port epifluorescence condensers for uncaging experiments in combination with photometry or imaging
- filter SP-390, transmitting efficiently below 390 nm
Control
- microprocessor controlled electronics
- external trigger (TTL pulse) or single shot by hand
- repetition rate up to 1 Hz
Power Mode
- life expectance: more than 10,000 full shots
- pulse width: less than 1 ms
- frequency: 0.20 Hz continuous, 1 Hz for up to 30 consecutive shots
- more than 1016 photons between 340 and 390nm in the back focal plane of the microscope, i.e. 2 x 1023 photons m-2 (Fluar 40x, 1.3 oil) in the specimen plane or 5 x 1021 photons m-2 (Achroplan W 63x, 0.9W) in the specimen plane
Economy Mode
- reduced photon flux
- 2 - 3x increased life expectance
- 50x reduced photon flux
- about 50 Hz
- lifetime more then 1000 hrs
