Datasheet: Tunnel Cage Washer 6700

Source: STERIS Corporation

STERIS' Basil 6700 Tunnel Cage Washer was especially designed for efficient cleaning and drying of animal cages, bottles, debris pans and other items used in the care of laboratory animals. The 6700 provides superior performance and productivity while minimizing utility consumption. When combined with STERIS's integrated system of products, chemistries and services, the 6700 helps minimize contamination risks and improve operational efficiencies.

HOW THE BASIL 6700 TUNNEL CAGE WASHER WORKS
STERIS' Basil 6700 Tunnel Cage Washer features a conveyor system for efficient, continuous cleaning and drying of cages, drinking bottles, pans and other items used in the care of laboratory animals. The 6700 includes four processing chambers, in addition to load and unload tables. Cages are first processed through the pre-wash chamber where they are exposed to a high pressure, cold water spray. This cold water is subsequently used to cool down the effluent. Cages then enter the wash chamber where a heated cleaning solution is circulated under high pressure. Load items are then subjected to a re-circulated, high temperature rinse and a final, single pass heated rinse. Finally, cages go through an air knife system for fast drying prior to exiting the tunnel. During the entire process, cages are maintained in place by a hydraulic hold-down system. The rinse water is saved and used to refresh the wash solution, thus reducing water consumption.

WHY BASIL 6700 TUNNEL CAGE WASHERS?

  • Cost Savings - Water refreshment system minimizes utility and energy consumption.
  • Ease of Use - Standard non-proprietary programmable logic controller (PLC) provides easy cycle configuration and facilitates maintenance.
  • Easy to Maintain - Standard self-cleaning screen automatically flushes debris to the drain, reducing daily maintenance requirements.
  • Throughput - Unique air knife drying system efficiently removes water from cages.
  • Productivity - Integrated bedding disposal system reduces manual handling of cages.
