The Deviron® Detergent Portfolio

In biologics production, several critical steps, including viral inactivation and cell lysis, are performed using detergents.
Triton™ X-100 detergent (4-tert-octylphenol polyethoxylate) has traditionally been the primary detergent in biomanufacturing processes. However, the European Commission has prohibited its unauthorized use within the European Union since January 2021 due to its listing on REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals).
Concerns have been raised about the endocrine disruption and mutagenic effects of Triton™ X-100 degradation product for potential risks to both patients and the environment. As a result, stringent guidelines have been established regarding its usage.
To meet the demand for Triton™ X-100 alternatives, two new products have been developed. Explore the Deviron® detergent range of best-in-class alternatives to Triton™ X-100 detergent for use in biomanufacturing applications.
