TekCel's New Adaptive Process Technology (APT) Optimizes Tube Picking Processes For Maximized Throughput And Efficiency
"APT transforms the TubeStore into an expert system." said Dr. Robert J. Rosenthal, TekCel's President and CEO. "As with expert systems, which analyze data and provide best possible options or answers to an inquiry, APT reviews all pending pick lists or jobs and their desired output and then prioritizes and arranges samples to quickly deliver them for processing. These activities are being performed in a controlled, inert environment to protect the integrity of samples."
APT runs from a single laptop and requires simple lists of retrieval requests (jobs), a selection of output format and a priority rating. The system determines the optimal schedule for processing all of the jobs. Process efficiency increases as more jobs are added to the queue because APT can cache tubes for lower priority lists that are encountered while pulling racks of tubes containing tubes for the highest priority list. The entire process may be paused at any time to add a newly requested top priority sample or list. Likewise, all pending jobs may be reprioritized at any time. Return of samples and other housekeeping processes may run in the background while maintaining the highest level of sample integrity. APT allows the user to focus on the most needed output replicates while the system schedules all retrieval, processing and return activities of the sample archive. APT tracks all transactions and provides upper level LIMS access to the database.
