STERIS Corporation announces the addition of the Reliance 380PG Pharmaceutical Grade Washer, an advanced high-performance system, to its line of pharmaceutical-grade washing systems. This new washer is designed to help STERIS pharmaceutical customers better address their specific automated washing needs.

The pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is under pressure more than ever before to improve their processes and cost effectiveness. They require equipment that can help shorten validation time, comply with standards and guidelines, and reduce the total cost of ownership.

"Our new STERIS washing solution offers several innovative features that are designed to provide an even higher level of assurance of consistent cleaning results," comments Marcel Dion, senior product manager for STERIS Life Sciences. "For example, the new total organic carbon (TOC) monitoring system verifies the presence of residual detergent or soil in the final rinse water, which provides a higher level of assurance that the load items have been properly cleaned and rinsed. In addition, the rotation of the chamber's spray arms can be monitored to ensure that the spray coverage of all the items in the load is constant and complete."

The new Reliance 380PG system complies with the ASME BPE 2007 (Bio Processing Equipment) standard, which relates to the requirements applicable to system design for bioprocessing, pharmaceutical and personal care product industries. The 380PG washer uses 12% less water than the previous high performance model, minimizing energy consumption and its impact on the environment. The system can use re-circulated chilled water to cool down the effluent, which eliminates the need to use additional cold water for effluent cooling.

The Reliance 380PG Pharmaceutical Grade Washer also enables significant process flexibility. An extensive line of modular loading accessories is easy to configure with the system, and the washer can be built with either a Siemens or Allen-Bradley programmable logic controller.*

The Reliance 380 PG systems are available for order as of July 2010. Local STERIS account managers can be contacted for more information.
