Stem Cell Cultivation In Single-Use Stirred Tank Bioreactors
By Smith Sibinga, D.; van Arragon, T.; Bernal, C., Getinge-Applikon, Heertjeslaan, 2629 JG, Delft, The Netherlands

Stem cells have shown remarkable therapeutic potential due to being undifferentiated cells that can treat otherwise difficult-to-treat diseases. Researchers have conducted a study to analyze whether dissolvable microcarriers (DMCs), in combination with a single-use stirred tank bioreactor, could serve as an expansion platform for the successful and controlled expansion of AT-hMSC. Review that study to see if clinically relevant cell numbers can be achieved using the engineering of a GMP-compliant large-scale platform is essential.
