Mattson announces new additions to their Spectral Library Products collection including pharmaceutical, inorganics and minerals libraries. Spectral library databases are a useful tool for identification and verification of unknown compounds. Mattson's new libraries are available in high resolution format which improves spectral subtraction and provides better search results to help find the best spectral match.

The Pharmaceutical Excipients library contains 300 spectra of the most commonly used excipients in the pharmaceutical industry. The library was created in collaboration with Research Laboratory of Bristol-Myers Squibb. It includes a textbook with explanation of spectroscopy techniques and the spectra of pharmaceutical excipients for reference use.

The Near Infrared Pharmaceutical Reference database is a collection of 385 pharmaceutical compounds including both active and inactive substances. The solid samples were collected using a reflectance technique using a fiber optic probe. Liquid samples were collected with a transmission technique using a 2 mm quartz cell.

The Inorganics library contains over 1800 spectra found in a typical inorganic laboratory including four basic subgroups; minerals, borons, inorganic compounds and commercial materials. The commercial materials include cements, ceramics, porcelains, clay, glass and other raw materials. The Minerals portion of this library is also available as a separate 600 compound library.
