<%=company1%>, the world's largest provider of research chemicals, and Oxford Molecular Group, a leading supplier of software and discovery solutions to the life sciences market, have teamed up to add innovative new functionality to Sigma-Aldrich's e-commerce Web site, www.sigma-aldrich.com. Users can now search, view, and order compounds more efficiently from Sigma-Aldrich's online database by structure, thanks to Oxford Molecular's research information management system for storing, searching and retrieving chemical structures—RS(3) Discovery. Oxford Molecular has enhanced Sigma-Aldrich's structure searching, viewing and ordering capabilities by utilizing its RS(3) Discovery information management system, which stores, searches and retrieves structures from Sigma-Aldrich's chemical database. The Sigma-Aldrich Web site offers the most robust on-line structure and substructure search capabilities available on the web today. Customers can define over 14 different search parameters when composing their search criteria. The substructure search engine supports the use of drawing tools from MDL Information Systems (ISIS/Draw), CambridgeSoft (ChemDraw), and Oxford Molecular (Kekule).

The Sigma-Aldrich Web site offers the chemical and research industries a comprehensive database of more than 130,000 compounds available for convenient online purchase. The addition of the new interface powered by RS(3) Discovery simplifies the chemical purchasing process, by allowing chemists and researchers to search based on the structure-related information they use on a daily basis.

"The integration of our chemical database with Oxford Molecular's RS(3) Discovery represents a significant advance in convenience for our customers," said Michael Reinhard, Marketing Manager of Sigma-Aldrich Corp. "Chemists have long recognized the value of utilizing structure based product searching to facilitate their R&D programs. We recognized the need for our users to be able to use those structures to search our database of available products. Thanks to the commitment and technical ability of Oxford Molecular's staff, this functionality is now available and improves upon our users' ability to search, identify and order compounds more efficiently."

"We have been very pleased with the opportunity to collaborate with Sigma-Aldrich on adding this important capability to their already outstanding online offerings," said Jeff Moore, Vice President of Cheminformatics for Oxford Molecular. "Sigma-Aldrich's product line is an essential resource for the research community. We believe that the addition of RS(3) Discovery greatly enhances the overall usability of the Sigma-Aldrich Web site—and demonstrates Sigma-Aldrich's level of dedication to serving its customers."

A Fast, Customizable Interface For Structure Searches
The marriage of RS(3) Discovery with Sigma-Aldrich's comprehensive database of compounds enables users to find and order the compounds they need, quickly and easily. A user simply draws a structure, substructure or compound fragment using one of three popular chemical structure drawing tools, ChemDraw, ISIS/Draw or Kekulé, and then submits it against the Sigma-Aldrich database. Users can also choose to input the name, partial name, molecular formula or weight of the compound of interest. RS(3) Discovery allows users to modify their search along the way, adjusting their queries as often as necessary. A search will then instantly yield all available Sigma-Aldrich products that fall within the stated criteria, allowing the user to then place orders directly from his or her desktop. And for those without one of the drawing tools listed above, the site offers free use of Oxford Molecular's Kekulé.

RS3 Discovery is a complete enterprise-strength chemical information management system. Built entirely in Oracle, RS(3) Discovery forms the core of Oxford Molecular's suite of cheminformatics solutions for storing, searching and analyzing chemical and biological data. It offers Web integration and a capability to link existing corporate database content in Oracle. RS(3) Discovery is designed to be flexible both in developing and modifying queries, and viewing structures and results, offering Sigma-Aldrich users a range of new options that facilitate multiple and customized queries. The Web site also provides many of the advanced options available in RS(3) Discovery.

Sigma-Aldrich's e-commerce Web site is designed to be a complete Internet resource, for designed with the chemical and research industries in mind. In addition to online product ordering, chemists and other researchers have access to a wealth of information, including Certificates of Analysis, with specifications like formula weight and relevant physical properties, and over 90,000 Material Safety Data Sheets, physical properties for over 100,000 products and 40,000 references from the Sigma-Aldrich Library of FT-IR and FT-NMR.
