Sigma-Aldrich gets exclusive rights to develop Proteome Systems products
According to press release issued by Sigma-Aldrich, this alliance foreshadows a long-term relationship between the two groups with respect to the collaborative development of other proprietary Proteome Systems' technologies and systems for use in proteomic research.
Dave Julien, president of the Life Science Division of Sigma-Aldrich, said, "As a leading supplier of life science products, our goal is to bring enabling technologies to our customers as quickly as possible. As part of our strategy to increase collaborations, we are pleased to announce this relationship with Proteome Systems. We believe Proteome Systems is a genuine leader in the field of proteomics and are excited about the opportunity to work with them on the definition and delivery of a complete solution for proteomics research."
CEO and founder of Proteome Systems, Keith Williams, said, "We are delighted to have the opportunity to work together with one of the world's most experienced life sciences companies to open up the proteomics market globally. There is intense interest in proteomics but few have a clear understanding of how to translate the opportunities into products that will drive discovery. We are confident that a Proteome Systems/Sigma-Aldrich partnership has all of the ingredients required to design, develop and distribute key enabling technologies for proteomics."
Proteome Systems is developing instrumentation, consumables and bioinformatic tools for all aspects of proteomics research. Proteome Systems announced recently the opening of a 21,000 square feet proteomics factory in Woburn, Massachusetts to mirror its Sydney operations (see related article).
Sigma-Aldrich develops, manufactures, and distributes a broad range of biochemicals, organic chemicals, chromatography products, and diagnostic reagents.
