Sequenom's Hamburg, Germany APL is Operational

Sequenom, Inc. recently announced that its DNA MassArray Automated Process Line (APL) is now operational at its Hamburg, Germany facility. It is the first DNA analytical system that can be operated under conditions characteristic of large-scale industrial processes, and thus provides the speed and accuracy needed by companies committed to genomics-based product development programs.

The new, fully automated version of this technology is designed for 24-hour operation and can analyze up to 10,000 genotypes per day, with a potential of up to 50,000 genotypes per day if tests are five-fold multiplexed. In addition, the DNA MassArray APL generates individually correct results based on the molecular weight of the DNA obtained through controlled enzymatic reactions. Consequently, this technology is highly reliable in an industrial setting and is amenable to system-wide and test-specific quality assurance monitoring.

Sequenom has become a leader in Industrial Genomics with the development of comparative DNA analytical tools.
