The advent of World War II interrupted our supply of merchandise and was the root cause for our entry into the instrument design and manufacturing business. This was quite a fortunate turn of events. Experience in designing and building B-25 bombsights, flight level indicators, gunsights, skid indicators, radar control indicators and such devices has been of tremendous value. In the first place, it demonstrated the need for the service which we now supply, immediate delivery of a wide variety of optical materials of top commercial quality. This experience also provided us with technical insight into the problems of design which has remained an invaluable asset in serving your needs to this day. It enhances our ability to communicate at the technical level. It reduces the time required to place an order. Frequently it enables us to offer suggestions, alternatives and help that simply would not be available from a less experienced supplier.

With the end of the war, top grade commercial optics once again became available from Europe. There was also a tremendous surge in technology which convinced us that our pre-war services were needed on an even broader front. This was the beginning of the Rolyn Optics Company as it is known today.
