BIOMOL Research Laboratories, Inc.ein tyrosine phaspatase-1B), a ubiquitous, nontransmembrane protein tyrosine phosphatase, was recently implicated in the negative regulation of insulin receptor signaling and is an important therapeutic target for type 2 diabetes and obesity. The BIOMOL Green PTP1B Drug Discovery Kit is a colorimetric, nonradioactive assay designed to measure PTP1B phosphatase activity. It is useful for screening inhibitors and modulators of PTP1B activity.
The kit includes human, recombinant PTP1B (residues 1-322) expressed in E. coli. EGFR(988-998) phosphopeptide substrate, one of the most efficient peptide substrates for PTP1B, is included. Free phosphate is detected using BIOMOL Green reagent, which enables non radioactive, one step detection – an improvement over the classic Malachite green assay on which it is based. RK-682, a novel tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor is included with the kit as a test control for inhibitor screening. The kit is supplied in a 96 well format for high throughput screening and includes assay buffer so that research can begin right away.
