Founded in 1964, Pressure Chemical Co. began with the purpose of using high pressure chemistry to provide novel materials for the advancement of basic research. In a short time, it grew from a respected supplier of research materials and laboratory standards to a leader in custom synthesis. Today we work hand in hand with new product and process-development groups from scores of leading manufacturers and processors of foods, flavors and fragrances, pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

Specializing in extremes, we are a leader in the custom synthesis of novel organic, inorganic and organometallic materials in volumes from many tons to a single drop.

Historic Firsts: Pressure Chemical played a key role in the development of products ranging from cholesterol derivatives used in liquid crystal applications to an ablative coating for atmospheric reentry of spacecraft. We collaborated in a new process for decaffeinating coffee beans, and pioneered the use of supercritical fluids for the extraction of flavors and fragrances from natural products.

Pressure Chemical Co. acquired CT Specialties Corp. in 1998. Located near Wilmington, NC on 105 acres, CT specializes in high pressure chemistry on scales larger than Pressure Chemical Co. The addition of CT Specialties enables us to provide our customers with integrated services from process development and piloting at Pressure Chemical Co. to commercial-scale manufacturing at CT.
