With increasing regulatory restrictions on animal-derived products like fetal bovine serum (FBS) and human serum, there is a need for safer, consistent alternatives for cell culture practices. In a study detailed in this paper, we examine how one alternative, Physiologix, compares to human serum, focusing on T cell viability, proliferation, and transduction efficiency, all crucial for the success of cell therapies.

The results indicate that Physiologix maintains equivalent T cell viability and proliferative capacity compared to human serum while improving lentiviral transduction efficiency. CD4/CD8 distribution and functional marker expression, essential for evaluating T cell activation and exhaustion, were also comparable between the two supplements. These findings suggest that Physiologix provides a consistent, regulatory-friendly solution for T cell expansion, making it a suitable choice for clinical applications in cell and gene therapies.

Learn more about the benefits of using Physiologix in T cell culture in the full white paper, which demonstrates its capacity to support therapeutic development by ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance without sacrificing cell performance.
