PBL Biomedical Laboratories

Source: PBL Biomedical Laboratories
PBL Biomedical Laboratories (PBL) was founded in 1990 by Sidney Pestka, M.D., a pioneer in the development and therapeutic use of interferon, to pursue advances in the diagnosis and treatment of disease with interferon and other biotherapeutics. Interferon is a protein that regulates the immune system and is the body's first defense against viral invaders. PBL generates revenues to support its R&D efforts primarily from the manufacture and sale of interferons, other cytokines, antibodies, and ELISA kits. PBL is the world's largest manufacturer of interferons and interferon reagents for research use and is the only laboratory in the world that produces all the human alpha interferon species. PBL's customers and collaborators have included interferon producers such as Schering-Plough, Biogen, Berlex, Glaxo-Wellcome, Hoffmann-La Roche, Amgen, Ares Serono, Interferon Sciences, 3M Pharmaceuticals and Viragen. PBL is located in New Jersey's "Technology Corridor" at the Rutgers Business Incubator facility in New Brunswick, New Jersey. PBL's capabilities include genetic engineering, bacterial fermentation, protein purification, drug delivery, pharmaceutical formulation, tissue culture, quality control and product analysis. We look forward to being Your Total INTERFERON Source!
