Optimizing A Microbial Fed-Batch Bioprocess
Source: INFORS HT
It is important to have a proven strategy for optimizing a fed-batch to make the time invested worthwhile. The fed-batch technique is an important biotechnological process strategy that, unlike the simpler Batch strategy, does not administer the substrate for microbial growth all at once. Adding the substrate over time allows control over the culture growth and product formation, whilst avoiding reactor limitations.
This article shows one possible strategy to optimize a fed-batch that, while labor intensive, usually leads to success.
