The newest addition to the AseptiQuik® G line of sterile connectors from CPC (Colder Products Company) is made of durable, lightweight polyphenylsulfone (PPSU), which can withstand harsh bioprocessing environments caused by chemicals and wide pH ranges from 2 to 12. Connectors are commonly exposed to chemicals such as sodium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, and dimethyl sulfoxide, also known as DMSO. Most of these chemicals are used in downstream processes including chromatography and column storage, filtration, and purification.

“Extensive testing of our new AseptiQuik G PPSU connector showed top performance in applications that require robust performance when exposed to harsh chemicals,” said Michael Francis, CPC Product Manager. “PPSU does not degrade when in contact with these chemicals, nor is it susceptible to cracking due to use or handling. PPSU has the durability bioprocessors can rely on for process consistency and excellent product output.”

The new PPSU product is fully compatible with CPC’s widely used AseptiQuik G polycarbonate series. Given many users’ familiarity with AseptiQuik G, introduction of the PPSU version into current bioprocessing systems will require no additional training.

“Bioprocessors know and appreciate AseptiQuik products. This gives them an additional option to use the AQG connector with confidence in even in harsher environments,” said Francis.

Like other AseptiQuik connectors, the new PPSU option includes a genderless design and easy “FLIP-CLICK-PULL” installation to simplify tubing connections. The new product also includes a laser-etched, scanner-ready data code right on the connector for fast, accessible information about the product and its use. The AseptiQuik G PPSU is BPAfree and also withstands temperatures down to -80°C.

AseptiQuik® connectors provide quick and easy sterile connections, even in non-sterile environments—a critical capability for biopharmaceutical manufacturers. The AQG PPSU connector is available in sizes to fit hose barbs ranging from 1/4" to 3/4” as well as 3/4" sanitary fittings.

The AseptiQuik® family allows easy media transfer with less risk of error. Their robust, reliable performance eliminates the need for clamps, fixtures or tube welders, providing sterile, high quality single-use connections.
