Narwhal Total Iron Analyzer
Source: Custom Sensors & Technology
The Narwhal determines iron concentration via a Tripyridyl-triazine (TPTZ) colorimetric method. The Narwhal automatically samples the process stream and proceeds with chemistry addition: a reducing reagent is added, followed by a buffer reagent, and finally TPTZ to provide color formation. The solution is mixed by exchanging the fluids between a syringe pump and measurement cell. Color formation (blue-purple) becomes stronger with increasing concentrations of iron. Upon completion of the reaction an absorption measurement at 598nm is made that is proportional to iron concentration.
