Monitoring Bioprocesses In A Light Environment Using Raman Spectroscopy

In bioprocessing applications, using Raman spectroscopy in a light environment, whether the light is artificial or ambient, poses several challenges. Raman spectroscopy relies on detecting scattered photons from a laser of a particular wavelength, which can be impacted by light interferences. The presence of light can introduce background noise and interference peaks, leading to misinterpretation and inaccurate quantification of target analytes. As a result, the predicted values for the parameters of interest in real-time may be unreliable and not reflective of the actual metabolite concentrations within the process.
