Monitoring Bioprocesses In A Light Environment Using Raman Spectroscopy
In bioprocessing applications, using Raman spectroscopy in a light environment, whether the light is artificial or ambient, poses several challenges. Raman spectroscopy relies on detecting scattered photons from a laser of a particular wavelength, which can be impacted by light interferences. The presence of light can introduce background noise and interference peaks, leading to misinterpretation and inaccurate quantification of target analytes. As a result, the predicted values for the parameters of interest in real-time may be unreliable and not reflective of the actual metabolite concentrations within the process.
In this application note, an advanced solution to facilitate the implementation of Raman technology at both laboratory and manufacturing scales in a normal light environment is introduced. The ProCellics™ Raman Analyzer, combined with Bio4C® PAT Raman Software, ensures consistent monitoring of critical quality attributes (CQAs) and critical process parameters (CPPs).
