Agawam, MA - A $7.5 million investment by Microtest of Agawam, Mass. is expanding the firm's offering of pharmaceutical and virology testing services and fill/finish contract manufacturing capabilities.

"Customers of our testing services and pharmaceutical contract manufacturing operations are both benefiting from the investments we're making in new facilities, laboratories, technology, and skilled personnel," said Dr. Steve Richter, Ph.D, Microtest President and Scientific Director.

Microtest will spotlight its expansion of services as part of its exhibit in booth number 319 at the 2006 AAPS National Biotechnology Conference, June 18-21, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Mass. In addition, throughout the show, Microtest will offer free qualification of its laboratory services to prospective customers of its virology testing services.

Richter said the expansion includes constructing and equipping new state-of-the-art pharmaceutical testing laboratory facilities, a series of segregated virology testing laboratories, and new aseptic fill/finish manufacturing facilities - along with the hiring of additional professional staff.

"As a customer-focused provider of both contract laboratory testing and contract manufacturing services, we offer unique cross-over benefits for all its customers," he said.

"These include a complete range of pharmaceutical and virology test services. These services can support full in-process and product release testing as well as product stability testing, raw material qualification and assay development/validation.

"Moreover, since we ourselves manufacture pharmaceutical product - as a growing provider of fill/finish operations -we have all the systems and procedures in place to fully support all the requirements of the FDA, EMEA and any drug-regulating body in the world," Richter noted.

"Our problem-solving approach, customer service focus, technical guidance and expertise help our customers reduce costs and risk, support rapid regulatory approvals, and enjoy reliable, fast, turn-arounds," he said. "Between our 20-plus years of experience and our new, cutting-edge resources, we're ready to assist with any product development, validation or manufacturing challenge."
