MagnaFire provides a 1280 x 1024 x 6.7 micron 10-bit color digital image using an advanced interline transfer sensor and color wheel. Communication with the computer is via a 400Mb/s IEEE 1394 "Firewire" interface. Sensitivity of the camera is 40–60% greater than cameras using tunable filters or mosaic color sensors. Electronic shuttered exposures range from 1/10,000 seconds to twenty minutes.
For framing and focusing, a 16.9 million pixel/second transfer rate provides a full-field, full-resolution (no binning or compression), monochrome image at ten images per second. MagnaFire produces a multi-pass brightfield color image in less than two seconds.
