LI-COR Biotechnology (Lincoln, NE) has signed a licensing agreement with Keygene N.V. (Wageningen, The Netherlands). The agreement enables LI-COR to develop and market reagent kits featuring Keygene's AFLP marker technology for genome analysis.

In a company press release, Jeff Harford, product manager for LI-COR, explained the benefits of uniting LI-COR's imaging systems with Keygene's DNA marker technology.

"Combining AFLP technology with our fast run time and proven accuracy will enable researchers to finish projects faster with less work," Harford said. The new AFLP reagent kits, combined with LI-COR's instruments and AFLP software from Keygene, will give researchers a complete system and the most automated approach to AFLP available, he added.

LI-COR is a developer of instrumentation systems for plant biology and biotechnology research. The company pioneered the development of infrared fluorescence labeling and detection systems for DNA sequencing and analysis applications used in genomic research and discovery.

Keygene N.V. is a R&D company focusing on the structure and function of genetic information. The company applies and exploits AFLP and other proprietary technologies and genomic databases through contract research, services, and products for applications in life science industries.
