Kodak Electrophoresis Documentation and Analysis System (EDAS) 290
The key component of the EDAS 290 system is the Kodak DC290 Digital Camera. Capable of capturing digital images with resolution in excess of 2 million pixels, the DC290 provides more than twice the resolution of the current Kodak EDAS 120 system, and up four to six times the resolution of video systems. The excellent signal to noise ratio of the system enables detection sensitivity down to <30 pg of labeled DNA. The resolution and sensitivity of the EDAS 290 meets or exceeds instant film imaging methods, with all the added benefits a digital system has to offer.
The Kodak 1D Image Analysis Software, used to analyze and annotate images, provides users with mass and molecular weight measurements, and intensity data, and Region of Interest (ROI) measurement. The DC290 acquire module of the 1D software package has many enhancements that improve workflow, including customizable camera preferences, a new Image Preview capability, and a new Quick Print option, and which allows the capture and spooling of an image to the printer in less than 25 seconds.
The new hood designed for the Kodak EDAS 290 system, improves workflow and eliminates the need for a darkroom or copy stand. It features an access door for quick gel insertion, adjustment and removal, and grip handles on the hood to facilitate handling and setup. Additional accessories include framing masks to position the gel under the camera lens, filters to improve detection sensitivity, adapters and a close-up lens kit.
