International Crystal Laboratories

ICL is a fully integrated manufacturer of IR crystal optics and spectroscopy accessories. It is the only U.S. manufacturer of potassium bromide (KBr) crystals, which are an essential component of all FT-IR spectrophotometers. Perkin-Elmer has awarded ICL its Manufacturer of the Year Award on several occasions because of 100% timely delivery of defect free products.

Major Products

ICL produces a full line of accessories for spectroscopy, including crystal optics, KBr powder, liquid transmission cells, UV/Vis and fluorescence cuvettes, gas cells, laboratory presses, reflection accessories, and its E-Z Press™, RotoFilm™, Tensioner™ polymer, and Real Crystal™ IR sample cards and liquid film makers. The E-Z Press™ is a 12-ton KBr pellet press that weighs only 50 lb. The Roto-Film™ simplifies production of polymer films for FT-IR analysis and use as XRF carriers. The Tensioner™ enables the production of spectra from previously impossible samples such as sulfuric acid and samples with peaks of interest in the 800-400 cm-1 range, while the Real Crystal™ IR sample cards provide a conveniently mounted non-absorbing substrate for qualitative infrared analysis.

Customer Support

ICL's catalog contains a comprehensive guide for IR crystal-optics selection and instructions for liquid-cell calibration. Formulae are also provided for calculating maximum allowable pressures on optical windows, and for internal-reflection issues such as penetration depth, effective pathlength, effective angle of incidence, and number of reflections.

Facilities

All ICL products are produced at its modern 8000-ft² Garfield, NJ plant. It employs state-of-the-art production and quality control equipment.
