PBL's enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits are based on a multiple antibody sandwich immunoassay
PBL's enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits are based on a multiple antibody sandwich immunoassay. Interferon is captured by an antibody bound to the microtiter plate wells. A second antibody is then used to reveal the bound antibody. An anti-secondary antibody conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then used to mark the interferon. Tetramethyl benzidine (TMB) initiates a peroxidase-catalyzed color change so that the interferon level can be observed and compared with a standard.
Antibodies are the heart of any immunoassay, determining the level of sensitivity, the dynamic range, and the specificity. Our in-depth knowledge of interferon antibodies has enabled PBL to develop ELISA kits with antibody systems that offer high sensitivity and a useful dynamic range, while avoiding false or misleading information. Also, PBL's IFN-a kits are the only ones that have been tested against the full complement of Hu-IFN-a species. PBL's ELISA kits can be used for measuring interferon in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.
