Column chromatography remains the standard for mAb purification, yet its limits on flow rate, residence time, and packing and qualification effort are well known, and Protein A resin rarely reaches its full lifetime in a campaign. This poster from the Process Science and Development group at the Boston Institute of Biotechnology tests a different approach: rapid cycling chromatography on membrane adsorbers, applied to an IgG4 antibody across capture and two polishing steps. It reports step yields and purity against a traditional column process, with cycle-by-cycle chromatograms and a step-level comparison of residence time, support volume, and operation time. A cost of goods model for a 30 kL GMP campaign extends the findings to production scale.

Explore the data to see how the membrane and column approaches compare, and where the authors see room for further optimization.
