Integrated Neuroscience Consortium Becomes INC Research by Completing Unique Integration of Clinical Trial and Site

SAN DIEGO (March 3) BW HEALTHWIRE -March 3, 1999--Integrated Neuroscience Consortium (INC) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Neuroclinical Trials Center (NTC), announced today a reorganization creating a fully integrated site management and clinical trial service company specializing in central nervous system (CNS) research.

To reflect the expanded services under a single company, INC has changed its name to INC Research. The new operations combine an exclusive national network of neurologists, psychiatrists and pain specialists who are experienced physician investigators, with comprehensive CNS clinical trial management services. Its new subsidiary, INC Research Sites will manage the investigator network to facilitate research activities and streamline contractual matters.

Kenneth A. Selzer, M.D., chief executive officer of INC Research, said, "For the first time, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies have a single source for carrying out all aspects of CNS clinical trial design and execution. Traditionally, these companies have gone to one source for investigators and another source for clinical trial management. With the combination of two experienced organizations into one fully integrated service provider, we can now offer clients high performing CNS sites and a full spectrum of cost-effective clinical trial management services."

Integrated Neuroscience Consortium introduced the first site management organization specializing in CNS and pain research. Members of the consortium are leading private practice neurology and psychiatry groups. Neuroclinical Trials Center, which was acquired by INC in July 1998 from the University of Virginia, has gained a worldwide reputation for expert and efficient management of CNS research programs. As a combined entity, INC Research will provide pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with a seamless process for managing Phase I through IV CNS clinical trials. Thomas Semler, president and chief operating officer of INC Research, states, "Our mission is not just to complete clinical trials in less time but to manage each with the client's unique needs in mind."

The reorganization consolidates an exclusive network of CNS investigators, a proprietary program QuickStart(TM) for rapid study implementation, state-of-the-art information systems including validated Oracle Clinical(TM) and SAS(TM), and in-depth CNS clinical trial experience. Corporate headquarters for INC Research are in San Diego with operations in Charlottesville, Va.
