Expanding Micronic's global reach for sample storage products

INTEGRA Biosciences Inc. (Wallisellen, Switzerland) has announced that it will acquire Micronic BV (Lelystad, Netherlands). Established in 1980, Micronics BV has carefully built a solid reputation for designing and manufacturing sample storage products for the life sciences. In 1999, Micronic introduced TraXis, a new system that enhances compound traceability and retrieval in markets such as high throughput screening.

Integra Biosciences, which specializes in products for cell culture, physical sterilization, and liquid handling, maintains manufacturing plants and sales subsidiaries in Switzerland, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Its products are available in more than 70 countries throughout the world.

Ron Wijnschenk, chairman, president, and CEO of Micronic, commented that his organization will benefit from Integra's strong sales and marketing presents. "Our business will immediately benefit from our significantly expanded size and global reach."

The move is part of Integra's strategy to develop market leadership through organic growth and acquisitions. Integra believes Micronic's product line will enhance Integra's "critical mass" and ability to compete in a fiercely competitive market.
