Industrial-Scale Organoid Production: Challenges, Advantages And Solutions

This content is brought to you by Molecular Devices, a Danaher Operating Company.
Organoids, 3D models replicating human organs, provide physiologically relevant models for studying diseases and evaluating drug efficacy and safety. They can speed up drug development, lower clinical trial attrition rates and associated costs. Large-scale organoid production can aid drug discovery, stem cell therapy, and personalized medicine applications. However, scaling organoid production to make them more wide spread and compatible with high-throughput screening applications remains a challenge.
Organoids can be produced from pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) or adult stem cells, and each of these options comes with their own set of challenges that, while organoid research continues to grow, still inhibits it's progress.
