High-Throughput Media Optimization For CHO Cell Lines

As more and more biologics are being developed, shortening molecule development timelines can play a key role in improving process efficiency. Central to this is the optimization of cell culture media composition to maximize yield and achieve essential product quality attributes.

Manufacturers can expedite media optimization through the application of statistical design of experiments and multiplexed cell cultivations, either in microtiter plates or scale-down model bioreactors. However, this endeavor can pose challenges, as media can contain over 50 different compounds, necessitating modifications to both basal media and feeds as well as multiple iterations to be performed.

This study introduces a methodology that integrates data-rich experiments with advanced data analytics. The methods presented are poised to elevate monoclonal antibody (mAB) titer, enhance productivity, and help achieve key quality attributes.
