American Medical Laboratories, Inc. (AML) received notification from the United States Department of Commerce Patent and Trademark office that a patent has been issued for AML's unique method of detecting drugs of abuse in hair samples. This patent is described as a "Forensically acceptable method for screening hair samples for indication of use of drugs of abuse". AML now holds two patents on its state-of-the-art hair testing methodologies and has additional patents pending.

Hair testing can detect up to twice as many drug users as urine testing. HairCheck-DT is quickly becoming the preferred method for screening prospective employees by many US corporations and organizations.

American Medical Laboratories, Inc., which provides drug testing on hair, urine, blood and breath samples, is a privately held corporation headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia. AML operates two full-service laboratories in the United States. Both facilities operate a toxicology laboratory and both toxicology laboratories are accredited by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the College of American Pathologists Forensic Urine Drug Testing Program (CAP FUDT). Both facilities operate twenty four hours per day, seven days per week. All hair testing is performed at AML's Western Operations facility located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
