Glyko was established in 1990 to develop simple, rapid and reliable carbohydrate analysis based on FACE (Fluorescence Assisted Carbohydrate Electrophoresis) technology. In May 1999 Glyko acquired the biochemicals business of Oxford GlycoSciences, and now offer a comprehensive range of tools to enable all scientists to answer fundamental questions about the structure & function of their glycoproteins, and other glycoconjugates.

Glycobiology is the study of carbohydrates or sugars, and researchers typically involved in this research are looking at disease mechanisms and potential therapeutics involving glycoproteins (proteins with sugars attached). Our global customer base includes pharmaceutical & biotechnology companies, as well as academic & medical research laboratories. Additionally carbohydrates are important in food and agriculture and other areas of biotechnology.

The products supplied are specialized biochemicals, separation products, and analytical equipment. These products are developed and manufactured at our facility in Novato, California, and shipped to laboratories around the world. Glyko also make their considerable expertise in the glycobiology available to worldwide customers with a range of analytical services, which can be performed in our laboratories on behalf of our customers.
