Based on the breadth of experience and expertise of our scientific founders, the company's initial focus was concentrated on a portfolio of reagents that met the needs of researchers working to solve the puzzle of what causes cancer, how cancer can be better diagnosed, and how aggressive a treatment the doctor and patient ought to consider.
Our very first products were directed toward breast cancer research and prognosis. More recently, we have added tools for scientists studying basic mechanisms common to many forms of cancer. These research tools include immunological reagents used to study specific proteins and events involved in the regulation of the cell cycle and DNA repair and replication.

The initial concept of GeneTex included a vision of being at the forefront in developing new, high-tech, gene-based tests for disease. The establishment of the Molecular Diagnostics division of GeneTex in the fall of 1999 brings that early vision into being.
The initial efforts of the Molecular Diagnostics group is on developing highly sensitive and specific molecular tests to detect and identify bacterial and viral agents of chronic diseases where commercial tests do not exist or are not in widespread use.
