Gene Logic Offers Microarray Data Generation And Analysis Services To Meet Pharmaceutical And Research Customer Needs

Gene Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:GLGC) today introduced Microarray Data Generation and Analysis Services for generating gene expression data from customer-provided biological samples, including tissue, cells, blood, and RNA. Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, and government researchers will use the new services in many aspects of drug discovery and development, such as identifying drug targets and biomarkers, assessing the toxicity of drugs, and prioritizing the existing compounds in their pipelines.

The services build on Gene Logic's core capabilities and expertise gained through developing the world's largest commercial gene expression reference database. The Company has processed over 40,000 biological samples representing more than 200 tissue types from several species. State-of-the-art facilities, automation, and industry-leading quality control metrics facilitate reproducible, high quality data. Customers also benefit from Gene Logic's biorepository methodologies and proprietary information management systems for accruing, handling, storing, and tracking of samples and data.

Services include:

-- Gene expression data generation from tissue, cells, blood or RNA using commercial or custom Affymetrix GeneChip(R) Arrays.

-- Optimized gene expression profiling of whole blood using a proprietary protocol to reduce globin interference.

-- RNA isolation from low-yield tissues or samples that are difficult to process.

-- Specialized operations supporting laser capture microdissection (LCM), double-IVT amplification and qRT-PCR.

-- Custom bioinformatic analysis for biomarker or drug target identification and mechanisms of activity/toxicity.

-- Custom platform development.

Dennis Rossi, senior vice president and general manager, Genomics for Gene Logic, commented, "We are adding advanced technologies and expanding our services to meet the growing market demand to outsource microarray data generation and analysis. Gene Logic has already provided Microarray Data Generation and Analysis Services to more than 20 customers, at their request, and we anticipate that this demand will grow."
