Gemini Bio-Products

Gemini Bio-Products was founded in 1985 by Bertram J. Polan, its President since inception. Mr. Polan recognized that there was an opportunity for a small entrepreneurial company to take advantage of the local markets' needs for cell culture products. By definition, cell culture is the art of growing cells outside of the body. Investigators and companies doing medical research use cell culture as a tool in developing new pharmaceutical and diagnostic products.

The Gemini philosophy was to provide a quality product at competitive prices with excellent service to the Southern California marketplace. For the first three years of existence, field sales were handled by Mr. Polan in the Los Angeles and San Diego area. Gemini has grown and now includes field sales efforts in the West with three representatives and on the East Coast with three additional representatives covering the Massachusetts through North Carolina markets.

Gemini's product line includes a wide range of animal sera, human sera, and other biological products used by its principal customers. Products are shipped frozen or delivered directly to the end users on a daily basis. The marketplace includes medical schools, private research institutions, some hospitals and the biotech industry.

All products are shipped from Woodland, California, where Gemini is headquartered. The number of employees has grown from a staff of two to a current staff of fifteen employees.
