The Levelock LL-2 fluid level controller offers control for volumes as low as 1 ml and handles flow rates up to 9 ml/min. Electrical noise and mechanical artifacts are minimized for patch clamp applications.
The controller measures fluid levels in a chamber via a contact optical sensor, which is bent 180° at the bare point. As the bend in the sensor contacts the fluid surface, the liquid absorbs a percentage of the IR light by refraction, depending on the depth of the sensor. An analog signal is translated into valve activity in relation to the surface position of the sensor. A suction source attached at the rear of the controller box pulls the solution to waste as the valve meters it out.
